If youre going here for the pharmacy they are smart, fast and kind sociable staff. It's my favourite pharmacy because of the staff. I like that they put more human cashiers here than robots too.

This place is a hidden gem. Great price on protein which is usually butchered in house. There is always something on sale. And, because it's hidden off Merivale, it's not very busy. Great Pharmacy too.

Very bad owner/ operator Marsha Workman. I have receipt and intact candy boxes still she did not return my item. I told her to give me a gift card she refused it. She told me someone will loose the money and it will be me. I was schocked to see how bad customer service she provided me. She should get some training on how to speak to customer 🙄

Their prices are RIDICULOUS! I stopped by today because I was in need of groceries and in the neighborhood. $8.99 for a honeydew melon, $4.35 for 3 zucchini, and $7.50 for a bag of potatos. Their produce was also wilted, and pathetic. DO NOT SUPPORT a grocery store with these prices. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you shop at FOOD BASICS, their produce is fresh, and reasonably priced!

Employees are wonderful. Food is fresh The owner needs to get over herself. She was rude and snappy to an issue we had. She told us she didn't need our business. If it wasn't for the pharmacy, we would never go back!!

This was a great store before the ownership changed. I've kept going because it's close and out of a sense of loyalty, but I aways have a negative experience. Sadly, I won't be back.

Perfectly adequate, unpretentious, old-school, neighbourhood-type supermarket. If you want a Loblaw groups store with the full line of President's Choice goods plus beer, go to Loblaws College Square. If you want a Loblaws with some more esoteric items and a Wine Rack, go to Loblaws Merivale. However, if you're in eastern Nepean and just want typical supermarket fare without the sprawl of more modern superstores, or if you just want to avoid Merivale or Baseline traffic, McDaniel's Independent on Grant Carman is fine, and is a great supermarket for anyone who lives on the 86B bus route south of Baseline Road (if you're an 86C person, the Metro at the corner of Merivale and Viewmount is probably more convenient). Some online reviews have issues with the pharmacy. I've never filled a prescription here so I have no comment on that, but, just as a supermarket, I've lived nearby for nearly 13 years and have never had any bad experiences at this store. ADDENDUM (May 2018): McDaniel's Independent Grocer recently started selling beer (and cider). They don't have pretty much the only beer I ever drink (Unibroue's La Fin du Monde), though I have bought cider here. I kind of wish they'd do the various flavoured Growers cider 6-packs but McDaniels Independent really only has a modest beer and cider selection compared to the bigger Loblaws stores and there's a Wine Rack store nearby in Merivale Mall that sells the Growers' assorted 6-packs anyway, so it's not that much of a problem.
